Angry Water Balloons

The day after the birthday party, we took things to a whole new level with Angry Water Balloons!!!

Let's try a bunch at a time!  Love that expression, Bekah  :)

Scott decked out in new Angry Birds attire.

Giant one!

Hoo-Hoo!!!  Yeah, this thing is definitely staying up all summer long.

Angry Birds Birthday!!!

This party turned out every bit as fun as we hoped it would.  At first, the slingshot needed loosening up and the kids had to tag-team it:

But everyone got the hang of it pretty fast.

Before we knew it they were all knocking down pigs like professional Angry Birds players!

When it was time for food, Scott was surprised with an Angry Birds pizza.

And a watermelon king pig.

After a few more rounds of the game, it was present time.  What kid doesn't want fireworks for his near-the-4th-of-July birthday???

Scott had been pining over a pair of scissors with a storage case and Big-Sister Bekah came through for him on that gift.  What a look he gives her!

After presents comes cake and this particular one was the piece de resistance of the whole party if you ask me.  Idea found on Pinterest, pulled off by Grandma Linda, it is a beaut!

And it tasted pretty darn good too!

At the Lake

We have only gotten the chance to get to the lake and swim a couple of times so far this summer.  On this nice day, we headed to Scenic State Park to cool off.  You might say that it makes sense to put your flippers on AFTER you're on the lakeshore.  If you said that, Bekah would say "pshaw!"

Alarik had a good time watching the action from the stroller.

He did have some issues with his hair that day though.  :)

End-of-school Sleepover

Bekah begged to have an end-of-school sleepover and I agreed.  That was three weekends ago.  I just now recovered.

Why didn't anyone warn me about girls' sleepovers?  Oh, the drama!

They started out by turning our screen porch into a spa.

Alarik says, "Hey, let me in, girls!"

There were tears and arguments amidst the giggles and fun and swinging.

These two just swung.  No tears.  No arguments.
 Lotsa giggles.
I wondered if our three guests would go home telling their parents that our house was the worst place to go, ever, but they all claimed that they had a great time when it was all said and done.

My new rule:  One girl at a time for sleepovers!

Birthday Sneak Peak

Scott turns 6 pretty soon here and we are planning an Angry Birds-themed bash!  We've had a ton of fun so far with the planning of this party and I can't wait to post all the pictures.  Here's a look at the invitation.

Don't worry.  No real pigs will be harmed in the throwing of this party.  :)

Scott's first lost tooth

Scott lost his first tooth last week.

If ever there was a time for a parent to be thankful for bed-wetting, it was that night. You see, Jesse and I BOTH forgot to be the tooth fairy!  Oh my.  I woke Scott up that morning in the dark because Alarik was still sleeping.  Scott held up the ziplock baggie in the dark and cried, "The tooth fairy didn't come!"  I was as heartbroken as he was but I thought fast.  I sent him to the bathroom so I could strip his bed, then quickly threw the tooth away and grabbed four quarters.  Why do we NEVER  have a dollar bill laying around when there's a lost tooth to pony up for?  Anyway, I hurried to the bathroom and showed Scott the empty ziplock and said that the tooth fairy really did come and he just thought she didn't!  His face lit up like Christmas.  Whew, crisis averted.  And I'm reinstated to mom of the year, right???

"Show me the money, tooth fairy!"

Last Day of School Science Fair

On the last day of school, Bekah's 1st grade class and the 2nd graders had a joint science fair and family BBQ.  The group Bekah was in demonstrated how a submarine works.

Caden's group got to show off what they learned about electricity:

There were lots of other fun exhibits and then we all enjoyed hotdogs, chips and salad out in the sunshine; a very nice way to spend an extended lunch break!

Scott. By Bekah

Ever since Santa brought Bekah a camera, she's been quite the little shutterbug.  I usually get snicker or two out of her photos when I transfer them to the computer.  This day was no exception so I'd like to present some photos of Scott, taken by Bekah:

It's Scott.  Sitting on a rock.  With his eyes open.  Sort of smiling.  Way to go, Bekah...that's better than I can typically do.

Exactly.  Now we're getting what I usually deal with.

Even better...

Very nice...

No comment necessary here.

Or here.

And Scott says, see ya, I'm tired of this.
