Turns out Scott's leg is fractured after all. Can you believe it? So Jesse and I are the parents that let our kid walk around for 3 1/2 weeks on a cracked bone. Nice.
Scott woke up in the middle of the night because his leg hurt. Once about every three or four days he would offhandedly mention that his leg hurt. He never made a big deal out of it and we just figured that he'd done something to re-aggravate it. But having the pain wake him up was new and we decided to get it checked out one last time. The doctor ordered another x-ray as opposed to doing a CT scan because he said if it had indeed been fractured, it would now show up on an x-ray and we could spare Scott some radiation exposure that way.
The x-rays came back and, lo and behold, there was the fracture, plain as day. Poor kid!!! At that point, it wasn't necessary to cast the leg because it's a good portion healed already. So I guess at least we get to miss out on the hassle of caring for a cast. I just can't believe that kid walked around, went to gym and recess, even went sledding again, all with a fractured leg. What a tough little dude!
